Giddy was a Santana 2023C that I used to own
made by
W.D. Schock Corp.
-
- It is a water ballast boat weighing 1755lbs
dry and 3055lbs sailing weight. The nice thing about the boat is the ease of
trailering, rigging and launching: It is only 2500lbs loaded with gear and sits
very low to the ground on the trailer.
-
- Some specifications:
- LOA: 23'4" DWL: 20'8"
- Draft: 14" (up) / 5'9" (down)
- I=23.1' P=24.2'
- E=10' J=8.75'
- Main 125sf, Jib(110%) 112sf
- The features in the Santana that I like most are the quick setup (I average
15 minutes at the ramp!), the boom
roller furling (infinite reef points), and the ability to drive the boat right
up on the beach (this really is practical with the Santana, unlike other WB
trailer boats' claims). The ease of setup and trailerability mean that the boat
will get used more.
-
- I did a lot of projects on the
boat in the 3 years I had it. As you can see from the list below, I like
working on the projects almost as much as sailing! (I heard that was a
pre-requisite to boat ownership, anyway). Most of the projects here are
specific to the way the Santana 2023C is set up, but a lot of them, or modified
versions, are applicable to all trailer sailors....
