Pulpit Anchor Holder

When anchoring single handed, I had a problem with what to do with the anchor to get it ready to send overboard. My existing method involved wrestling with the anchor lid and trying to extract the anchor while the tiller was un-manned.

Likewise when weighing anchor, I needed a temporary place to stow the anchor while I sprinted back to the tiller until things were calm enough to stow it permanently.

This is a no-brainer idea, but works great with this type of anchor. The anchor and the 4 ft of chain hang over the side, and more importantly under the pulpit bar, ready for deployment.

I used a "V" shaped keel roller (or is it a bow stop?) and cut approximately 30 degrees out of the 360 degree profile - sort of a pie shaped piece:

This then just snaps on and off the railing so that the anchor stays put and doesn't scratch up the pulpit.

I have it on a lanyard (I lost the first one) and just stow it in the locker on top of everything (since it is the first thing to take out.
